VOTE FOR CHAD DEHNE FOR
RENO CITY COUNCIL
(A Marine Corps Veteran with a Plan)
1985
2011
DEHNE WAS THE
CHALLENGER FOR RENO MAYOR LAST YEAR.
HE WAS AHEAD IN ALL OF THE POLLS (EVEN RGJ).
Post Election Note: This young Marine was on his way to victory..
until they stopped counting his votes. But he still did darn well.
Each
vote that he
tallied cost him less than about a dime.. from his meager campaign fund.
And in spite of the 1,000s of disappearing votes, he still got 38%.
PS - Virtually every poll/survey had Dehne in the lead significantly.. EVEN
THE
RENO GAZETTE POLL.

Note: DEHNE
may not have a lot of "paper on the wall".
But he has vast and varied on-the-job experience, he's a hard
worker, he's a quick learner, and a great listener (and speaker).
He is in good physical shape and strong enough to endure the riggers.
And he is very loyal... to those who deserve his loyalty.

Media (finally) talks with Dehne.. after the election (listen)
Here was one of the (Reno Mayor Race) Polls conducted by the Reno Gazette (RGJ)
Bob Cashell
35.38%
(46 votes)
Chad Dehne 64.62%
(84 votes)
Total Votes: 130
THIS IS WHAT THE RGJ
POLL IS (WAS) SHOWING !
(It was small.. but poignant.)
(It was pulled the next day.)

It's pretty darn up and walking good... especially considering this former Marine did not
have any of the massive musical
orchestral accompaniment and super sound technician help usually found at these
kinds of celebrations.
And no Dress Rehearsal. He just walked on the field, picked up the mike, and
started singing.
This was recorded.. spur of the moment.. on one of those 5 megapixel mini
cameras. That's all.

Dehne's Letter to RGJ Editor (Feb, 2010):
WILL THEY GET THE "MESSAGE"?
Why would ANYONE expect the current City Council to take a pay cut to help out
with the current financial crisis facing our city? Time and time again , the
current regime has voted to give THEMSELVES some hefty pay raises. When Chad
Dehne ran for City Council he already recognized the situation unfolding and
stated that he would DEMAND a 50% pay cut to perform the job. It is time that
these critters are exposed for what they REALLY are. Individuals using
government seats to fill up their wallets. All others will be addressed
secondarily. These individuals are the VERY people who dug this hole for us, and
now the local media says that we are fortunate to have such a "STRONG?" Council
to get us out of the very mess they've created. Remove the blindfolds. PLEASE!!
CHAD DEHNE will make a GREAT Ambassador for our City.
It's Too Bad "They" Stole 18,344 Votes From
Him in the last
election. Let's not let it happen again.

. CHAD DEHNE
Would Have Made a Great
Reno Mayor back in 2006.
He Will Be Even Better in 2010 (click)
CHAD DEHNE, a 46 Year Reno Resident and Family Man, will be great on the Reno City Council
Chad Dehne has a pretty up and walking good Legacy of Patriot Service in his Family Background:
(Chad Dehne's grandfather, Doctor Ed Dehne, was one of the Chief Masterminds and Architects (weblink) of the Marshall Plan (weblink).
The Marshal Plan was one of the greatest Reconstruction feats in the history of the world. It saved and restored Western Europe in the years immediately after World War II.)
And then there is his father, Sam (click).Dehne is a typical member of the blue collar community. And thus he has insightful first-hand knowledge of the issues and problems that more than 80% of Reno citizens are concerned with.
Dehne has been blessed with savoir faire, sophistication, class, and charm intertwined with spunk, gumption, and a natural charisma... not found in those typical "professional" career politician (of which there are far too many). Dehne says, "It's not about the money... it's about the change".
Dehne will work for healthy interactions between business owners and their employees. The legitimate interests of business investors must be protected and respected. Healthy businesses translate into good jobs for their professional and blue-collar workers.
Dehne, 47, a former Marine, does not have grandiose schemes to inundate the community with ugly campaign signs, obtrusive billboards (well maybe a billboard), TV ads, and bulk mailings during the campaign. And thus he will not owe allegiance to the Special Interests who will want to try to “push his buttons” after he is elected to Reno City Council.
The Choice is Obvious:
Chad Dehne
Dehne Wants Lean government
(Dehne and the current mayor a few years ago)
...
Then
and
Now
With an onslaught of corruption and mutilation of ethics at many of the corporate and government "leadership" levels, citizens have a choice to make at the voting booth this year. It is time to get some oversight onto these elected bodies... from a worker who is NOT a member of a "good ol' boy" club. As a matter of fact, Dehne said that after watching how things are running in Reno, he just assumed the City Council positions were vacant.
Instead Dehne will strive for Grassroots Government in an attempt to get citizens back in charge of their government... instead of just the Special Interests. He will use his Marine Corps training to try and re-instate a respect for Government, The Constitution, and America.
A Vote for DEHNE Is A Vote for YOURSELF.

Doctor Edward Dehne (click) [Grandfather]
Watchdog Sam Dehne (click) [Father]
The current Reno city hall has placed the citizens in grave financial jeopardy; with millions of $$$$$dollars of tax-debt obligations far into the future.
It will take a big change in government... and quite possibly a miracle... to save Reno.
Good Government starts at the Local Grassroots level.
Dehne has a Powerful Platform designed to help save Reno (click).
America's Government can be no better than the local governments in the Cities and the Counties.
The vast majority of government employees are honest and do not like having to work under bureaucrats they don't respect.
It is time for new blood.
Northern Nevada needs a protected Watchdog Whistleblower program to weed out corruption, kickbacks, collusion, and cronyism. Dehne plans to spend as much time as possible trying to motivate the "grassroots".
Too much money from Washington is spent in too many wrong places. It is time to redistribute those much-needed dollars to the regular citizens who deserve them... away from the bloated coffers of Special Interests who waste them on personal projects.
Dehne will use the Internet and email as ways to stay in touch with citizens. He will also meet with neighborhood groups when invited, as time permits. He is serious about "grassroots government".
Dehne will spend as little time as possible hobnobbing and wining and dining... and stay as far away from Special Interest mouthpiece lobbyists as possible.
Dehne will make as much use as possible of Reno city hall's long-time citizen Watchdog, Sam Dehne. Sam as publisher, editor, investigator, and reporter for the free Reno Citizen magazine has provided the citizenry with quality insight relative to the problems within Reno govt.
There is no plan to solicit a huge political slush fund. Thus, Dehne will owe his allegiance to nobody... except the citizenry... and can therefore tell the TRUTH.... as opposed to having to speak out of 5 different sides of his mouth at the same time... as is the norm for most other politicians.
Eliminate the Beer Tax. Dehne is going to get rid of the Tax that you have to pay to enjoy a beer at a ballgame.
When you go to a ball game and have a nice cold beer, why should you have to pay a tax to enjoy it?
The beer taxes at places like Reno Aces baseball and Nevada Wolf Pack football games will be eliminated.
It must be further noted that there are myriad other TAX issues and problems like this that need to be addressed
and corrected or at least fine-tuned.Here's an example of Dehne's Take Charge Spirit:
Sit/Rep 8 July, 2010 (Southeast Reno)
1. Reno Council Candidate Chad Dehne is on his evening walk with his 2 Pit Bull dogs.
2. Dehne sees flames coming from home.
2a. Dehne quickly takes action in the face of a situation that is
threatening lives and property.
3. Dehne tells a bystander to immediately call Fire and Police.
4. Dehne awakens another resident and advises him to dress and get out his house to safety.
5. Dehne continues to alert other neighbors about the fire danger...
still hanging on to his (big) dogs.
6. Dehne goes to another house and rescues 2 big dogs in the back yard.
7. Fire trucks arrive and save the house with far less damage than would have
happened without Dehne's assistance.
8. Channel 2 news arrives and does all it can to avoid Dehne.

DEHNE'S VIEWS ON SOME OF THE LOCAL ISSUES:
CITY HALL MOVE:
The current city council spent dozens of $$$millions of precious tax dollars to move to the Big Black Building. (Even the scandal-plagued RSCVA turned this bogus purchase down!)
The "new" city hall building is not citizen friendly... with overcrowded parking facilities, poor elevator access... and a myriad other negative aspects.
City Hall was doing just fine in its previous (perfectly citizen-friendly) location. Citizens' taxes should not have been wasted on a move to lavish quarters so the council can join their cronies. Some people even call this building the Black Kremlin... with reference to the fact that Russia housed most of its evil government organizations in a single area. Similarly, the city hall building also has several other government entities as tenants. With the council firmly and lavishly ensconced on the 15th floor. That building should have been sold and city council should have moved back to the perfectly good old city hall that was more than sufficient for operations.ELIMINATE THE BEER TAX:
Dehne is going to get rid of the Tax that you have to pay to enjoy a beer at a ballgame.
When you go to a ball game and have a nice cold beer, why should you have to pay a tax to enjoy it?
The beer taxes at places like Reno Aces baseball and Nevada Wolf Pack football games will be eliminated.
It must be further noted that there are myriad other TAX issues and problems like this that need to be addressed
and corrected or at least fine-tuned.CITY COUNCIL PAY CUTS:
As Reno council member, Dehne will lead the way by taking a 25% PAY CUT. Then he will demand that the rest of city council do the same. Thus he will create a "Bully Pulpit" to allow him to ask other city workers to take significant pay cuts. At least until he has a chance to help get Reno back on its feet.DESIGNATED DRIVER CORPS:
Create and fund a Designated Driver Corps. Driving under the influence of alcohol is one of the worst and most common crimes in Nevada. It must be stopped. Support for this Corps is in NO WAY meant to condone over-indulging in alcohol or drugs.RENO AIRPORT:
The Reno Airport is an integral part of Reno... period! But city hall has refused to take responsibility for its often abusive actions. The terrible Rewana Farms landgrab scheme at the turn of the century... was an insult to democracy. Appointed persons, such as those trying to run the Reno airport, should NEVER be given the right to confiscate land away from innocent citizens... under the guise of eminent domain. And here is a picture of what the airport has in its dreams for the confiscated land: ("click" for Air Cargo scheme)
If the Reno Airport cannot guarantee that it will stop its massive cargo expansion into the Rewana Farms area, then relocation of the Airport should be publicly discussed and voted upon. This is not meant to be any reflection on the cargo airlines such as UPS and FedEx.
PUBLIC REFERENDUM VOTES:
Citizens should be able to trust Public Servants to decide controversial issues in a manner that protects all the citizens... not just powerful Special Interests... but this is too often not the reality.
Public referendum votes must be used more often so that the "bosses" (the citizens) can give direction to their Public Servant "employees" when they are deciding controversial issues.
Citizens can understand public issues IF they are properly informed about the pros and cons of each issue.
GROWTH:
It must not be allowed to be cancerous. It must pay its way through impact fees. Taxpayers should not have to pay for negative growth impacts such as schools, roads, police, etc. The people should vote to approve or disapprove major proposed projects. Growth should not be decided by the entities that profit from growth. Neighborhood self-determination should be the norm. Small enclaves of citizens should be allowed to decide what happens in the areas where they live.
WATER, AIR, PATIENCE:
There's not enough! (See GROWTH)
NOISE, DANGER, BLIGHT, POLLUTION:
There's too much! (See GROWTH)
PUBLIC INFORMATION:
It is nothing short of outrageous for citizens to fund a $$$$million dollar city hall brainwashing machine. "Actions speak louder than words." Reports originating from city hall should be balanced and objective, not slanted to serve the agenda of those city officials who are subservient to powerful Special Interests.
JOBS:
Economic development in the Truckee Meadows should be carefully evaluated. New companies should be discouraged from coming here unless they offer ONLY quality jobs which will not require public subsidies for their workers. ALL companies should have to pay taxes at least at the same % rate as the casinos. Corporate Welfare should be outlawed. Soliciting and subsidizing Cargo operations at the Reno airport is not necessarily beneficial to Reno.
ROTTING ROADS AND POTHOLES:
The road situation in Reno is an insult to its citizens. City Hall must prioritize its financial resources. Propaganda machines must be scaled back and roads fixed. The people have had to complain for too long.
OPEN MEETING LAW:
The Open Meeting Law should be strictly enforced. No more Secret Meetings! The Nevada Attorney General must start taking action against Public Officials who violate this law and the spirit of this law.
Unless the so-called state ethics commission will clean up its act, it should be disbanded for conduct undeserving of public confidence. The EthComm was created to protect innocent citizens against corruption by Public Officials. Instead, it has been doing just the opposite.
SPECIAL INTERESTS:
We have to stop the big boys from making the decisions. Casinos and developers are important in the local economy, but they should not be permitted to undermine democratic due process and decision-making.
LOBBYISTS:
Lobbyists should not be permitted to run amok anywhere... Period.
THE DUTY TO VOTE:
It is every citizen's right to vote. S/he must take the time to diligently analyze the candidates and issues... and then vote. Please take the time to register. It takes about 10 minutes. And when it comes time to vote, there is early voting... as well as all-day voting on election day. Always remember that expensive billboards and TV ads mean that the candidate likely owes the Special Interests who fund their campaigns big-time.
All of this assumes that the vote counters in Nevada can be trusted... which they can't. Read this: (click). We should use paper ballots hand-counted by persons pledged to be honest or go to prison for 20 years with no chance of parole. Each ballot to have a carbon copy for voter to keep.
AFFORDABLE HOUSING:
Assistance for home purchases by the downtrodden is important. But paying $150,000 per home is an insult to the process. Affordable homes should be just that... affordable. Housing specialists should be hired to create housing units that sell for $56,000 or less.
RSCVA:
Another one of those government bureaucracies being run by self-serving Appointees. Progress is rarely made when organizations use other peoples money (TAXES) for their projects. That is one of the worst things about the RSCVA. It was originally created as the Fairgrounds and Recreation Board to provide events and activities for northern Nevada citizens. Instead, it has degenerated into building Convention Boxes mostly for outsiders... and to the benefit of Special Interests. This body should be comprised of at least 50% common ordinary citizens. One of these days the taxpayers might not be able to bail them out.
It repeats saying that Appointed people should never have the right to steal citizens' property under the sneaky guise of eminent domain.
CASINOS:
Reno can not compete with Las Vegas. We must promote our other local resources as well. Other businesses should have to pay taxes under similar guidelines that the casinos have to follow. No free rides! We should have widescope public discussion of the future of gaming in the Truckee Meadows. Soliciting and subsidizing Cargo operations at the Reno airport is not a good idea.
PUBLIC SERVANT PAY:
Public servants should not be paid more than the average salary of the constituents they represent. They should have to wear name tags with their salaries clearly depicted below their names.
VOTING POLICY:
All Public Officials should be expected to abstain from voting on any issue that benefits his or her major campaign contributor... and/or especially their private companies and cronies. AND of course they must not be allowed to vote for their own pay raises.
WATER CONSERVATION:
Water is scarce in Nevada. Citizens should be asked to use water wisely. However, water saved should not then go to further development... unless specific projects are approved by the citizens. During periods when water is plentiful, good judgment as to water use should be the order of the day.
TOWN MEETINGS AND NEIGHBORHOOD MEETINGS:
Citizens should be permitted to discuss and decide major issues. Major decisions should NOT be made by the big boys. Hard questions asked by citizens should be given straight, honest answers by government officials. Immediate neighborhoods (a few streets or blocks) should be permitted self-determination. Cancerous growth projects should not be forced upon them by outsiders.
THE DECISION MAKING PROCESS:
Key issues should be discussed at Public Meetings. They should NOT be discussed in secret meetings prior to public meetings... using telephone conferences, serial or chain meetings, less-than-quorum "briefings", email, memos, directives from special interest groups, or directives from lobbyists. No more Secret Meetings. THIS IS WRONG!
DRUG TESTING:
The concept of Drug Testing of citizens should be revisited. But as long as the law requires drug-testing for workers, the bureaucratic "brass" and elected officials should also have to comply. As a matter of fact, the elected officials should have to go first. Simply put; that means elected Public Servants and all top bureaucratic staff should be tested periodically. In Reno, they refuse to do what workers have to do.
("click" here to read more about this suggestion.)
NUCLEAR WASTE IN NEVADA:
Let all Nevada citizens decide with a referendum state-wide vote. This is far too big of a deal for the Special Interests to be allowed to decide amongst themselves. There is the potential for massive federal government aid to Nevada if the cards are played right. Any money that does come from the federal government should be given directly to citizens of Nevada... legal American citizens who have lived in Nevada for at least 8 years. There are hoards of problems in Reno that are almost as potentially hazardous... but very few citizens seem to be concerned about them. (Re-read above issues.)
